Indeed Job Search is an app for users to find jobs for android and ios. Users can search for jobs worldwide, build their resume within the app, and do many more things.
What is the purpose of redesigning the Indeed App?
The idea of redesigning the app comes to my mind when I was exploring apps on my device and opened the Indeed app, I didn’t know when I opened the app last time but in the past when I didn’t have the UX mindset, I don't see apps like focusing on the user interface, just use it normally like the users but now when I used Indeed app, I did not expect that the user interface and the experience of the app will be so bad, I looked deeply and saw how everything is not clearly arranged that's why I got a new case study idea for my portfolio.
What did I see in the Indeed App?
The first thing which I have seen is the opening Animated logo of Indeed and then the home screen.
If you see apps in 2020, the user interfaces of the apps are much better than older versions, also not just me if anyone with a UX mindset will use Indeed app will say the same thing which I have told you.
Problems that users face while using the app.
Users can’t see a proper home screen when opening the first time.
Navigation list items placed on the same screen instead there should be a hamburger menu icon.
The hamburger menu icon is appearing in subcategories and on the right side of the app which makes no sense.
No proper navigation to different sections.
There are many sections in the app but can not find easily.
Slow process whenever a user taps on something.
The problems which I have mentioned above are the ones from the real users which I have asked them to use the app.
I am not saying that users can not achieve anything from the app, yes they can search the jobs and use all features available in the app because millions of people downloaded it, but if they have focused on the user interface and the experience, the app should be much better than this.
The solution to the problem
I will change the experience of the Indeed app by redesigning the user interface so that the user will not face problems while using the app.
There should be a bottom navigation bar because the Indeed app has many sections and with a bottom nav bar it will be easy to navigate to different sections of an app.
There should be a proper home screen so that the user can easily see and navigate to all sections of the app from the home screen.
Everything (components, text, information) should be in the correct positions so the user interface looks clean and usable.
The layout of the app should be better than the previous one so everything fits correctly.
First of all, I have not redesigned the whole app just updated the main screens of the app to get a better appearance.
The Redesign Process
The first thing which I have done is that I wrote all the information and components from the app, and sorted out everything by creating wireframe sketches and placing components to correct positions.
Every time I design UX experiences, the first thing I always do is that I wrote everything in my notebook because it’s very time-saving for brainstorming ideas and designing low-fidelity sketches, and after then I jump to digital.
Redesigned User Interface of Indeed App
Home Screen
The redesign of the Home screen.
As you can see I have added a bottom navigation bar because it's useful for a user to navigate through different sections of an app, not because every designer out there adding a bottom nav in their designs so I will also add.
Job Search
The redesign of the Job Search screen.
I have kept the same look from the current one but removed some unnecessary information so that it looks clean.
Profile
The redesign of the Profile page.
Jobs List
The redesign Jobs list screen.
Screens that are redesigned.
Fonts
Only Regular and Medium used.
Colors
The Blue color (#2164f2) is from the indeed logo.
So I have redesigned some of the main sections of the Indeed Job Search App to get the first appearance of a better user interface. I am not saying that this redesign which I have done is perfect but I know it is better from the current ones UI which is available on the play store and it can be more improved.
Thanks for reading my UX case study or you can say a story of my Indeed Job Search App redesign project from beginning to finished.
